Updated February 16, 2024 - 7:38 am

Police are investigating a hit-and-run, auto-pedestrian crash Wednesday in the central Las Vegas Valley that sent the pedestrian to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred abut 9:30 p.m. at West Charleston and Decatur boulevards, said Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Miguel Ibarra. Witnesses said a gray or silver SUV was westbound on Charleston when the victim, a 48-year-old Las Vegas man, was crossing outside the crosswalk when he was struck.

The SUV driver failed to remain at the scene and fled westbound on Charleston.

The person suffered head and body injuries and was taken to University Medical Center.

Police later released video screen grabs of the vehicle, saying it should have moderate to major front-end damage and a broken windshield.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro’s Collision Investigation Section at 702-828-3595. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
